Ever since I was a little girl I’ve loved animal stories. The Elephant’s Child, Eye-Ore, Reepicheep and The Muddle-Headed Wombat are lifelong friends.
My passion for animal characters never waned. And so it wasn’t surprising that my doctoral research explored anthropomorphism and animal characters in Australian children’s literature.
Since the publication of The Shark Caller and The Dog with Seven Names plus my PHD, my interest in all things anthropomorphic continues to grow. Both books are CBCA Notables. The latter, won the Speech Pathology Award, was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Awards and is now published in Chinese.
This site is home to information and blog posts about diverse animal voices.
